Welcome to the first weekly publication of Modern Firm Weekly. We have just entered a new financial year [in Australia] and we are still in the midst of COVID and I believe we have entered a new era. An era of becoming a Modern Accountant and running a Modern Firm.
I was this week reviewing the results of a survey on Accountants Top Training and Development Needs and it showed the following:
- 24% - Sales skills
- 12% - Team training (not compliance!)
- 11% - Marketing
- 8% - Confidence
- 7% - Soft skills
- 5% - Systems & processes
- 4% - Pricing & packaging
- 4% - Deliver webinars
To preface the above, these accountants are interested in delivering new services to their clients so I’m not overly surprised that sales, training and marketing are the Top 3.
I do wonder if Deliver webinars would have made the list pre-COVID? I think not. But I do like that accountants are now starting to look at new ways of improving client communication and education and experience.
I also launched the Modern Firm Practices Show this week [below] discussing setting future aspirations and goals, laying the tracks backwards, chunking down, and accountability.
I hope you enjoy it!
Until next week,
ps. all the above survey response topics will be covered in upcoming episodes as they fall under the ‘Modern Firm Practices’ banner.
